SPEAKER_00:Merry Christmas. Merry Christmas, baby. Happy holidays.
SPEAKER_01:Ah, Trish, the dish. You got the dish with us today on ghost stories. Of Christmas pasts.
SPEAKER_00:Of presents.
SPEAKER_01:In future. I think I'll have a ghost story of Christmas present right now. Yes, you do. We'll talk about holidays.
SPEAKER_00:It gets you. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, they got me good. I was writing my email. As a matter of fact, I haven't even sent it out yet because I'm writing it in real time about Thanksgiving right now. And I'm just like, um, yeah, this hits. This hits kind of hard this year. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. Thanksgiving is always one that's like a big punch. It's like family drama, food. Thank God there's pie. Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I'm excited though for this year, specifically for my family, because we have um the in-laws coming in. I get to say in-laws for one. Oh my goodness. Last year, but yeah. I'm not even concerned. Like for one, they're staying at um a local Airbnb, so that's really awesome. Shop small, right? I mean, support the town. And then also for two, you know, it's gonna be real chill, real relaxing. They're fun, so they like to play games and they'll fit in perfectly with my mom and dad and my brother. So it'll be great. It's adorable. Yeah. Yeah. So we're doing good things. I'm excited for you, Carly. Me too. So, what you got going on right now? What's going on first in Trish's world with your echoes? So well, Echoes.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, so I've kind of rebranded and just left myself uh my website as Trish the Medium. Um Soul Echoes was kind of the name of the group, and it still is. That's the name of the group on Facebook, but I've just kind of left myself as Trish the Medium because that's who I am and that's what I do. Uh for those of you that don't know, my name is Trish. I am a medium, a fifth generation one to be exact. So, what does that mean? Um, able to see and speak to those who have crossed over. It's a talent that has been handed down and one that I cherish very much. Yeah, it fills my cup. I'm a stay-at-home mom during the day, and this is what I do in the evening for fun. Um, sorry, I keep seeing this little dingle ball move, and I'm distracted by all the shiny objects. Um, but really excited for the ghost stories today. I have so many facts and fun things to tell you. Are you ready?
SPEAKER_01:Are you ready to get started? I am ready, but I just want to say with your mediumship, can I call it a mediumship? Yes, you can. Okay. It's a big chip. It's been so healing for me, for my family, and for the people that touched with you that I've sent your way. They've all come back to me and been like, she's amazing. That was felt. I loved every bit of it. And I will say, I met with uh Trish the other day just recently, and my grandma, and how cool it was to have her. And ever since then, she's just kind of like been in my dreams because I'm uh like it happens to me in my dreams, and yeah, well, just have conversation in my dreams. It's just been really sweet, it's just been really awesome since then.
SPEAKER_00:We kind of opened something up, I think.
SPEAKER_01:Yes, absolutely. Yeah, so I'm really happy that we had that opportunity, and um, my nana and her sweet little self got to hang out with me and my mom for a minute. So through you.
SPEAKER_00:So thank you. And you and your mom are amazing. I want to steal your mom and take her on adventures with me.
SPEAKER_01:Right? Like I'm like, she's a great gift, but she's mine, but she's mine, Dr.
SPEAKER_00:Tones.
SPEAKER_01:She's the best. She's oh my god. She's definitely a blessing for sure. You're like, uh-huh, 100. Yeah. So back to you. I've got to hear these ghost stories. I was so excited when you were like, You want to do a ghost story podcast for Christmas? And I'm like, uh, yes, look at these earrings. Andrea's salon in Namble. She sold those are adorable. Yeah, right. I'm like, yes, I will totally do that because I have the earrings made for this and my nana sweater, snow way. Oh, I feel like I'm gonna be saying that a lot. Yeah, no way. Snow way.
SPEAKER_00:No way. Well, I borrowed these from my neighbor, Jessica, who's a nurse who brings cheer to people even on Christmas Day. And I'm wearing shorts right now because I'm sweating my butt off in this very heavy sweater. So I'm glad this is all you guys can see because my white legs are out and proud right now.
SPEAKER_01:Um, not look for my pretty oh gosh.
SPEAKER_00:You're gonna get me to cackle here and do my real laugh, my real laugh. That's not good. Okay, are you ready to start with our ghost story for today?
SPEAKER_02:Let's do it.
SPEAKER_00:Okay, so picture it. Scotland, 1936. We're gonna be talking about the RMS Queen Mary. This is the epitome of luxury. She was called the Ship of Woods because of the amount of wood paneling in the ship. Being on it in 2005, fast forward, I remember thinking, oh, look at all the wood paneling. Um, because I don't like wood paneling, but back then opulence. So it was really high-end. Think great gatsby on the sea. So it was created by the White Star Line to rival the Titanic, and we all know how that ended. Um very badly. Um had everything from a hospital, a beauty salon, a gym, and of course, a grand ballroom. Now, during that time as a luxury clue signer, she had people like Clark Gable, comedian Bob Hope, and picture it, Elizabeth Taylor with both of her poodles who got to hang out in the kennels on board. So I just think of fabulous Elizabeth Taylor arriving with her both of her poodles, like, hey everybody, you go put my dogs, take my bags, put them with the put the dogs away. So Eisenhower, um known for her art deco style, and this is and then of course, what happens next is World War II. So she was converted to a troop ship painted gray. She was called the Gray Lady or the Grey Ghost. Now her during her time of or during World War II, she transported over 800,000 troops. You know who her biggest foe was? Hitler. Hitler hated the Queen Mary because she was so fast and carried so many troops across the seas to whoop his ass. So that's why he hated the Queen Mary. He said, anybody that can sink this ship, I will give you the equivalent of$250,000. Can you imagine having a hit out on you from Hitler during World War II? They set the record for one voyage, bringing over 16,000 soldiers at one time. Can you imagine the energy left behind? 16,000 people on their way to war, 17, 18 years old, not knowing what is ahead of them, not knowing if they were going to live or die. But here they're in this ship full of luxury and opulence. So because Hitler had this huge hit out on them, um, they were transported and escorted by U-boats, which were to deter any shots at the Queen Mary. So they're doing a serpentine maneuver, like a zigzag. And as they're traveling as fast as they could to get across the ocean, they hit an a boat, a U-boat, the USS Curacao. This was in 1942. Now, aboard the Curacao were 338 people, and the boat sank within six minutes. The soldiers on deck couldn't do anything. They were not allowed to stop, even though this was one of their own. They had to watch them die. Completely awful. So during that, they were doing the zigzag pattern and they watched 338 people perish. They had to close the bulkhead doors, and they couldn't repair it until they had got to their location. So here they are traveling and witnessing people pass. I cannot imagine how the morale was during that time. So one of its biggest celebrities was Winston Churchill. He had traveled back and forth on the Queen Mary during the war. Um, he signed the D-Day Declaration aboard the Queen Mary. He was a notorious brandy drinker and cigar smoker. And I cannot imagine how much how many, how much brandy and how many cigars were smoked when he smoked and he signed that D-Day declaration. So I do have some facts, courtesy of a friend of mine about Church Home that are really interesting. He was a Nobel Prize winner in literature, and he carried a pistol at all times in case of a Nazi attack. He used old-timey language. So artillery, he would call them cannons. Worships were forgettes. I keep saying it wrong. I've been practicing frighets. Sorry. Um, Istanbul, he referred to as Constantinople. He was an interesting badass of a person, and he spent a lot of time aboard the Queen Mary. So these facts are courtesy of Mr. Aaron Dorman, who is a history teacher at Jeffersonville High School in Indiana. Aaron owns his own home and is currently single. So the ladies in the Louisville area, would you, if you're interested in a history teacher, Aaron Dorman, look him up. He's actually a pretty cool guy.
SPEAKER_01:Okay. I love the fact I want to pause. I want to I love the fact that we're talking about Winston Churchill right now because my neighbors just got a little corgy and they named him Winston Churchill and he arrives at their house today.
SPEAKER_00:So I need to, oh my God. I need to get him together with I have a Teddy Roosevelt. He he does, he has like three brain cells in his head. He's not a bright dog whatsoever. We gave him this huge name, and then he is the derpiest dog you could ever imagine.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, he just couldn't live up to it.
SPEAKER_00:Uh he couldn't. It was like that too, buddy. We reached I know, right? We reached a little too hard with that one. So after the war, the Queen Mary continued to be this opulent, filled, just think of like a cruise liner. Um, and then in 1967, she was decommissioned and boarded in Long Beach, California. We thought it was um, when Rachel and I initially talked, we um thought it I could have sworn it was San Diego. So shout out to all of our friends in San Diego. Um, she had made 1,001 voyages across the sea during that, during her time. She saw four births and 55 reported deaths. Only 55. I think during the though during the time of war, they just didn't count. Um it was briefly owned by Disney, and now it's an attraction slash historical monument. Now let's it's 1984. Jim and Becky Bailey are vacationing in Long Beach and decide to go. This is my mom and dad in 1984, looking so young and cute. Aww, adorable. I know they're so cute, getting their pictures taken. Um, and as I mentioned before, my mom was a medium too. Um, and my dad was more interested that they had Howard Hughes' plane, the Spruce Goose. Uh I haven't seen, I didn't look up the Spruce Goose, but I know something about it being made of wood. Um, but it was a big, big to-do, and they had a great time. My mom said that it was really creepy um and that she would love to go back one day. Now, fast forward and it's 2005. Ain't no holla back girl was the top song on the charts. And we still don't know what what it what the song is about 20 years later, but if it comes on, am I gonna sing it? Hell yeah, I'm gonna sing it. Ain't no hollow back girl, Gwen Stefani. I'm still gonna sing it. And it's sad to say that that was 20 years ago, but Rachel, we're still looking good. We still got this. Um okay, yeah. Fine lines tell it all. Right? No, fine lines mean we have lived a good life and laughed. That's the purpose of life. A whole lot. I don't care if I have fine lines. A lot. I have left so many, I have loved so many people that did not get to make it to this age. And um, it is a blessing to be this age. So fast forward to 2005. Perspective. Perspective, right? Um, I had family in LA, or about an hour north of LA, and we were visiting, and unfortunately, they had a business convention. So we had decided to do some travel. We went to Long Beach, and as soon as I saw the Queen Mary docked, I th I said to my mom and dad, we have to go. I have to be on that ship. And my dad was like, you know, you're really, you're like really determined. And I'm like, yes, we're going on the ship. And we signed up to do the paranormal investigation. So we had quite a few hours till dark. So we got to wander around. So little 18-year-old Trish starting her senior year in high school. Um, if you let me wander around a historic haunted location, I am giddy. Um, I have some cute photos to show you of us prior to the tour. This is my dad, Jim, manning one of the cannons, looking like a cool Popeye the Sailor man. Adorable. My mom always hated this picture. Um, shout out to my mama. She would have been 66 today. Happy birthday, mama. They're on board. Happy birthday, birthday, Miss Becky. Mama Becky. Um trying to see if oh, and then here is little 18-year-old Trish looking cute. Peep the uh look at that 2000s fashion there, the little little half half sweater thing, and then trying to look cute and pulling things aboard the ship. And then this is the last one. If I tried to do a pull-up uh right now, I would fall on my ass. But back then she was so strong. Oh, so strong then. Okay. So now I will get into what I as a medium saw on board during our haunted investigation.
SPEAKER_01:So while we were waiting, I want to pause for a second. I want to tell you, do you remember Lisa Hartongue? Yeah, I love Lisa when you did uh uh episode with her on grief to grace, her podcast. Giving grief grace, yes, giving grief grace, thank you. I had her on mine, and the day I had her, it was her mom's birthday. Yeah, so and now it's your mom's birthday. I know, but anyway.
SPEAKER_00:That's so weird. It is why so it is. I was really excited, yes, I was really excited for the haunt for the tour and the investigation. Um, so I've I think I've said before, but my dad has no psychic ability. He has the psychic ability of a cucumber. Um, and we were kind of waiting around. Um, you could kind of guide yourself, and we ended up sitting in the front of the ship. Now, imagine this. It's 2005. I don't have a cell phone, I've never done any research on the Queen Mary. I just knew from this picture that my mom and dad went there in the 80s. I didn't know anything about the Queen Mary. So we're sitting at the front of the ship in this room, and they had like fake luggage, little boxes here and there, big things of rope. And we're sitting down, and I have my back against the iron of the ship, and we're just kind of lounging, waiting. Um, and I started to see some men enter the room, and these men were wet. They were very handsome, but they were wet. And I said to my mom, I said, Do you see those men wearing onesies? Now, my mom was the daughter of a welder/slash electrician. She said, Babe, those are coveralls. And I was like, Oh, okay, coveralls. Excuse me, men in the room, coveralls. Um and they were, their lungs were filled with water, they could not breathe, and they were fighting to get out. And that fear was just something that I it was etched into my soul. Like I could not shake that fear. Now, my mom was a teacher, she was a special education teacher. Anytime we went to a museum, she had to read everything. Everything. If it was on the wall or on a display, she had to read it. My dad and I have ADD and would just kind of blaze through an exhibit and wonder where the snack bar is. And that's basically what we were doing before we were sitting down. And my mom then begins to read a the placard that says that in um 1942, when we hit the USS Curus L, that 338 people were killed. And when she says that, all the hair on my neck stands up and they're all there. And they they understood that the Queen Mary could not stop. But because of having to zigzag back and forth, there really and then no communication. The captain of the ship was so angry with himself and was were still worried that they had injured the Queen Mary, and they they had wanted to, it was the few over the many. And that was the the stance that they had really taken on it. And there were, I think it was in the third in about 30 or 40 people that had passed that were on the Queen Mary. And I think I was picking up a combination of the both with the panic, the I can't breathe, get me out of here. Um, so that was our first little tip into the ghosts aboard. Um, so we started to wander around um when the tour began, they took us through the boiler room. I don't know if you have ever pictured or seen a bulkhead door. So the bulkhead doors were meant to be closed during an incident to kind of keep water, so what it's watertight. So in the 60s in 1967, there was a maintenance drill, like a fire drill. And some 18-year-old guy named John Petter um was working and they were kind of playing chicken, kind of goofing off. He had dropped something and he was crushed by bulkhead door 13. I placed my hand on the iron because iron holds a lot of energy. It will hold things for years, and I could feel his panic, feel his pain. But and it was almost like it just reminded me of this is really graphic, but toothpaste coming out of a tube of toothpaste, like when you get to the bottom. Like that, it was just a horrific way to pass. And he was present and he didn't look like that. He didn't, he didn't appear to me with with that look. He appeared as just a normal person who was my age. It was so strange to be the same age as this person and seeing this person in spirit. And he was disappointed in himself. He felt some shame and some anger. Um, he showed them having to call home. Um, and I, you know, when I was doing some research on this, I said, wow, 18. And my husband reminded me back then, I mean, in the 60s, 1967, he could have already been married, but I could not imagine being a mother and getting that phone call. Um, so it's it's it's determined as to whether or not, um, undetermined whether or not they were like playing chicken or if this was an accident. But the feeling that I got from him was sorry, excuse me, that this was something that was unintentional. There was a huge mistake. And obviously he's still, he was still kind of replaying it in his mind. I will show you a picture that I took of the engine room. It's so wild to have actual photos because, you know, not having a cell phone back in the day, I would have taken all kinds of videos and things. And then there's my mom's handwriting on the back. I love that part. Um, one of the areas that people claim to be to have the most haunted is the swimming pool. Now, the swimming pool is lined with beautiful pearl quartz. You're no longer able to go into the swimming pool area because underneath it's almost sinking down. Um, and there wasn't any water in the pool. There hadn't been water in the pool for years. People claim that there was a little girl ghost named Jackie. I didn't pick up on anything with a little girl. Um, I did some extensive research on this now, preparing for the podcast. And it is a rumor that Disney started that to increase sales and just start the paranormal tour. However, I did pick up in the changing rooms where they claim the vortex is. They say that there's a vortex in the changing room. So it's pitch black, and they have us all go in these teeny tiny little changing rooms. My mom, my dad, and I are like kind of stuck together in this one changing room. And my dad's like, why are we standing here? And I'm like, We're supposed to listen and feel for the vortex. And he's like, Okay, can we get a snack after this? And it's like, yeah, be quiet. We are using our psychic and medium ship abilities. We'll get a snack afterwards. I promise. I promise you. And the feeling of the so-called the vortex area was the weirdest thing I had ever experienced. I kept seeing spirits moving in and moving out. It felt like my like the ship was actually moving. It is in water, but it's, you know, the water is surrounded by rock. So it's it's not like you know, it's moving up and down. It felt like we were on the high seas. I got really dizzy and I'm like, am I having a panic attack? What is this? It felt so strange. Um, it reminded me of Harry Potter when um the bad guys like suck all the uh the dementors like eat and they have to give him chocolate afterwards. I kind of felt like I needed some chocolate after hanging out in the vortex. Um so this is a picture of the pool. You can kind of see the pearl. Um, so California legislation stated that you did not have to have a lifeguard on duty if even if a pool was at it was on its most shallow end of the pool was nine feet deep. Um, I did get a present, I had a couple presences of people around the pool area. I didn't get someone that technically would have died in the pool. It was almost just like a hot spot. So there were, and I don't want to say entities that are really cognizant of what they're doing. It's almost like watching a video, watching a video of people wearing strange bathing suits. Um, a couple of them had those bathing suits that look that are like a tank top that have like little shorts. And I remember looking at them, going, okay, this is really weird. These are weird bathing suits. Um, and being just completely enamored. We walked through a ballroom, and in the ballroom, I could see a spirit. And I told my dad, take a picture right there. And he was like, Okay, and I'll show you what I caught on the picture. So this is with no flash. Do you see the little light on the dance floor?
SPEAKER_02:Or is it a picture? I I don't see.
SPEAKER_00:Can you see the checkered floor? Yeah. It's there. Yes. Yes. So it's just a little anonym anonymally. Anonymally in the picture. Anonymally in the picture. And what I had was I kept feeling was a man, a man that was following us around. He was wearing a three-piece suit. It was brown, and I he was smoking. And I remember thinking, why is this dude smoking? Some spirits, I can't tell if they're real or not. So I just don't acknowledge them. Um, I will tell you a side story about that later. That's kind of funny. Um, so we're the tour was over and I needed a snack, and so did my dad. Um, it was kind of one of those things like you go on this ghost tour and we'll go to the little restaurant bar and we'll feed you type thing. Um, so on the way, we're walking down this flight of stairs, and I noticed the man again. And the person who was escorting us was the tour guide, and she was gonna take us and show us where the bar restaurant was, and my mom Mom and I had told her what we do. And I said, Look at that guy, mom. And we were laughing. And she was like, Who did you see? Can you describe him? And I said, three-piece brown suit wearing a pocket watch. I was like, He's kind of crotchety. And she goes, Come over here. And she took me by the hand and she showed me a picture on them all. And she said, Is it that guy? I said, Well, he keeps saying Colonel. And she was like, Colonel. And I was like, Is he Colonel Sanders? You know, being a Kentucky girl. And she goes, That's Winston Churchill. And I was like, Oh, oh shit. And at that point, like the he was still present and he had given me a very dirty look. Looking at the clothing that I had on, I'm sure it was confusing to him. Um, a woman in wearing shorts, you know, my mom and I both had shorts on, exposing our white white legs. Um and I started doing like I had wrote in some notes on the back of one of these pictures that said the colonel. And in doing my research, I found out that his code name when he was aboard the ship was Colonel Warden. That was his code name. And I found that out yesterday. I thought that was so cool because I'm like, why is he saying colonel to me? I'm like, I don't think was he ever a colonel? And I'm, you know, diving in doing research, asking my single friend who's a history teacher, hey, you know, um, was he a colonel? No, he wasn't a colonel. And I found out that was his nickname. Um, so that was really validating. Experiencing the energy fields was so wild. We get to this restaurant bar, and it was like we were taken back into the 30s. I've always been obsessed with the 30s and 40s. Um, I think it just has to do with art deck. I love art deco. Anything that is like I mean, aboard a ship. I have I I'm a I'm a boat girl. My growing up, my grandfather had a houseboat on the river in Louisville, and I spent a lot of time working with him. Like I said, he was a wielder. He could fix anything. Um, and we were on the water all the time. It was a validating experience. And we left, and I'm like, wow, I had someone who I don't know say, Wow, you're really good at this. I'm like, thank you. And I had done readings before, but it really set off this piece in me that said, I want to do this all the time. I want to do this.
SPEAKER_01:Your mediumship like came in.
SPEAKER_00:It did. And it was a validating experience. It was a fun experience. And we had gone on a couple, you know, little adventures, you know, before where my mom and I could kind of collaborate. Um, and it was just one of those things where it was like, wow, I have to keep doing this. This is so fascinating. And I'm not, you know, imagining these things. They really are something. And that's when the technology really took off for ghost investigations. Um, do you want me to tell you the side story that's kind of funny? Yeah. That's also ship related. So um, I am from the Cincinnati area, and the a Titanic museum, like a traveling exhibit, came to the Cincinnati Museum Center. But like I said, my mom was a teacher, so she got free tickets and we decided to go. We were one of the only people there. They had actual artifacts. I was experiencing some things looking at the actual artifacts. They had a giant, like huge iceberg that you wanted to touch. And of course, I'm like, I want to fake it. Like, is that not ever, I mean, is that not everybody's knee-jerk reaction when you see a giant fake iceberg? And there was a gentleman there who was dressed as the captain. He had the white beard, he had the hat, he had everything, and he kept following us around. And I'm thinking, he's a spirit. He's a spirit. Um, I'm like, I should talk to him at the end and see if he we were getting towards the end, and like I said, my mom had to read every single thing. And I was kind of done. There was a greater's ice cream that was in the museum center, and I was like, to hell with you. I'm gonna get some ice cream and I'll meet you at the exit. And the the man walked up to me and he said, Do you need any help? And I excuse me, he said, Can I help you? And I said, Can I help you? Do you need anything to move on? And he said, What? He said, What? I said, Do you need anything to move on? And he said, What? And I went and I said, Hi. And he said, Hello, my name is Walter, and I have worked for the Cincinnati Museum Center for 20 years. And I sat with him on a bench, and I told him, I said, so my family sees ghosts, and I thought you were a ghost. And so he sat there for 20, like 20, 30 minutes and told me ghost stories about the Cincinnati Museum Center. And we had a really good laugh. Um, I really didn't think that he was a dead person and he was just watching over and that I needed to help him at the end. And he's like, No, I'm I'm real, and I'm like, me too. And it was so nice just to talk to him and like learn extra facts about the museum center. And um, he was a great guy. I'm sure he's since retired, but it was hilarious. Um, so these two experiences with the Queen Mary and then with the Titanic Museum were really close, very close around that time. Um, and they just kind of validated, hey, you know, you need to do this, you need to focus and move your shift and kind of shift your life and have this in the background and work and focus on this. And when I started focusing on being a medium and helping those that are grieving, helping those bring comfort to heal, my life has really taken off. And I've it's it's amazing. It's a gift that I know I'm helping other people and monetary thing, monetary things have never really come into play. It's I want to help people and help them remember that they are still loved. They're still loved by God, by those that have carried on and that are on the other side. It's a beautiful experience to have a reading like that. I'm not giving you future predictions. I used to do tarot. I think I did Rachel's tarot reading for Rachel like 10 years ago, but I don't really do that anymore because I don't need it, you know. Um solely focused on souls that have a message and bring forth messages that need to be heard. So that's my Christmas ghost story.
SPEAKER_01:I love it. No, I uh do this. It's really cool how we've kind of followed these breadcrumbs, right? And get into where we're at today, which is kind of wild. I was explaining this to a scam artist literally an hour ago. Um, this was someone who contacted me and they're like, you're gonna be in um influential women's magazine and blah, blah, blah. And we'd love to have you. And then giving her my story and all the things, and she's like, This sounds great. Um, so to be in the magazine, you have to pay a thousand or twelve hundred dollars or something like that. Or and then she eventually got down to like$180, right? And I was like, look, this is Christmas time. And had you picked me up 12 months ago, I'd have been like, here's my money. I'm so excited. I can't wait to be featured. But I have in the past 12 months learned how to listen to my intuition. I know now that I can't make decisions off the cusp. I need 24 hours. I have to sleep on it, especially if I'm paying you like$1,000 that is at Christmas time that I could spend on my son and my family for whatever. And also, like, do I need this extra validation to understand that I'm worthy and know in my heart, like all of these things that I've got going is real. You know, I've been doing this stuff and doing these types of things bringing joy and being authentic for a long time. And I don't need the accolades to come into me and be like, here, let me put you in a magazine today. And especially pay them to put me in a magazine. No, no, you don't either. Yeah. So it's really funny how you even at a teenage level, you're like, I want to do this. I know I'm gonna do this. And like one of my first things. So I had a um talk about Christmas past ghost stories. I was in a not a pageant, but they called it um like a Christmas. No, it's called distinguished women now, but it used to be called Junior Miss. Junior Miss. Oh, yeah. That's what it used to be called. Now it's distinguished women because it's they don't want it to be a pageant. They want it to be you're smart, which it is like both. Let's be honest. Otherwise, why am I prancing around in a ballroom gown? You know what I mean? Why am I? Yeah. So anyway, the talents were so hilarious. They were strong all over the place. But I was your age, I was 18 years old, not even 18, I was 17. But either way, I was a teenager, senior in high school, and I'm doing this, and I'm like, what is my talent? What is my talent? And do you even? I mean, you probably know what my talent is because you know me, but my talent was public speaking. Yeah. I was I got on stage and I was like, this one time in band camp. And like back then in 2004, we knew what that meant. Yes, we did. We knew what movie we meant.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, so you know what movie talent was? What was yours? Singing. Singing. Singing. Oh my god. Can you sing?
SPEAKER_01:I can. Can you sing? Yeah, awesome. But you could have been like I talk to dead people, you know.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, no, we didn't talk about that in the pageant scene. Well, if you talk about that in the pageant scene, they mm mm.
SPEAKER_01:They're like, okay, you're dressed cute, honey.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. I didn't I got the be your best self award. That's what I walked away with at that pageant. Yeah. Sort of pageant. You want it to be whatever you want to call it.
SPEAKER_00:And show your colors.
SPEAKER_01:Well, that was at eight years old. But it's like, you know, we knew these things, you know? Yeah. And they come across and they're like real. And I think it comes back to like standing in your authenticity. And now you've rebranded. Tell me more about your present and to your future ghost story.
SPEAKER_00:So, my present this past year, I I really leaned into God. I thought what I was doing was wrong. So I had lost friends that said what I did was working with the devil. And that didn't sit well with me because it didn't feel evil. I didn't feel evil telling a grieving mother that her murdered son loved her and wanted her to carry on. It never felt evil to help those who lost a child in a car accident to know that their child was still watching them and wanted them to read a specific book, very specific information. Why would the devil want people to heal? Why would he want us to be healed? Why would he want us to experience joy? So I have leaned into that. I've leaned into saying, this is what I do, this is what I believe. If you don't believe what what I do is, you know, if that's what you believe, okay, that's fine, move along. I've had I've had to develop a very thick skin. And I mean, I'm 38, and it's taken me 38 years to have that thick skin and say, okay, you don't believe in what I do, that's fine. That's cool. I prefer Coke over Pepsi. That's just kind of like I've had to kind of build that vocabulary and say, Yes, this is what I do. If you don't believe it, okay. I I believe in you. What's the difference? You know, um, so for the future, um, I think is just to continue. Um, I have to tell you, I did find in when I was looking at for these photos to show today in fourth grade. I wrote that I wanted to be a Ghostbuster and a writer. Um, and I have a client whom I absolutely adore that wants me to write a book. And I keep going, I need to write a blog, because I have so many stories of readings where things tie in, then you know, all these validating things. And I think, do I need to write a blog? Do I need to start my own podcast? What would I talk about? And um, I'm like, Rachel does it. Rachel is awesome. And I think our friendship and us validating each other and you saying, Hey, if Trish can do that, I can do that too. Me being out and when I say out and proud, I always feel like You are out and proud, girl. I am out and proud, everybody. Uh yeah. No way. No way. No way. If you know you put people, you have people put in your life for a reason. Wicked. I'm gonna start singing here for a reason. I met you. That was a different I believe that my theater nerds are or my theater, uh, the theater nerds are faklumped over here with me fanning myself over that song. Um but if I didn't do it, it wouldn't have given you the inspiration to do it for yourself. And we've kind of lifted each other up for the past year and the future. I want to help facilitate healing in as many ways as I can. I created a website, which is big for me because I'm very technologically challenged. Um, I don't want to sound like someone that, you know, I mean, I use chat GBT. What is the easiest way for me to create a website? And it's http forward slash forward slash trishthemedium.com. All it is is I have a spot where someone can send me an email. I don't want to know anything about you prior to a reading. People have said, well, she could Google. I don't have the time for that. I'm a stay-at-home mom. I'm too busy cleaning up dog puke and keeping my child from jumping off the furniture to Google you and learn super specific details that come forward in a reading. I don't have the time, nor do I care enough. I mean, I care about my clients. That's not what I mean. I don't need to do that in order to have a moving and validating experience. So the future is just to stand my ground and say, yes, this is me. This is who I am. You don't have to like it. And it's so empowering. It's empowering to say, this is who I am. I love myself. And that is so radical these days. People want to. I don't know what your inner dialogue, I'm sure I know what your inner dialogue has been like in the past. And we are recovering. We are, it is the season of turning off that negative inner dialogue. I tell myself it stop that negative thought and go, I am a fantastic mom. I'm a great wife, I'm a good person, I'm doing great things. And you get aggressive about it. I get aggressive with myself. I am beautiful, I am kind. And um, even when a four-year-old says things like that about himself. He says, I'm a good boy, I can do hard things. So my future is aggressive self-love. Just keep moving forward, meeting people and doing things like this. What about you? What's your ghost of Christmas future look like? Um wedding bells.
SPEAKER_01:Wedding bells. Yes, that for sure. I'm um I'm really looking forward to that in so many ways. Um, I can't explain it. And I also kind of shut down when I think about it because I'm like, that's I don't know.
SPEAKER_00:I shouldn't talk about it, but I'm talking about it in the interview. I'm like, what about you, Rachel?
SPEAKER_01:Oh, well, I'll tell you what, I'll I'll be um full transparent. I have a a ghost I'm trying to battle now in my present moment. And it's easy, it's easier every day, but it's um handling a loss of deep friendship, long-term friendship, you know, um, because I've decided to stand more in my myself, my power, my voice, my everything that I know is right within me and know that is right with my my God, my everything, you know, and how I'm raising my son and how it looks different than what um a friend of ghost past expected of me. Yeah. So that was hard and it's been hard, and it's every day hard of letting go of um of that in itself, and then also uh family changing, family dynamics, and how that has totally shifted my entire world. But as hard of that as those two breakups have been this year, it's like broken open.
SPEAKER_00:I'm not supposed to do this on my old podcast. We talked about the beautiful vases that are repaired and how beautiful they are.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it's just kind of shattered, and it's um allowed this deep dark seed to be in enriching soil, and that's the best way I can explain it and describe it because what's coming through and what's coming out, I can't turn it off anymore. I can't suppress it anymore. I can't hold back anymore. And it is um, it's powerful, it's self-leadership, it's teaching courage, it's standing in your power, it's diminishing peer pressure. It's take, it's a way to put up your energy, be in your energy, be in your light as like you are the blooming flower that you are, and you walk around amongst everybody in your own wildflower way and standing in your own power and your own divin and divine right. And that's what I have coming in. And I've got this through not only myself, but this is lighthouse work with my mom being a holistic coach. This is lighthouse work with my best friend from when we were 18, and now we're 39, 40 years old, and she is a Reiki master, and we're working together, and what we are creating right now is a lighthouse. And it had to happen losing our my relative who is still alive, but he's not with me, and losing a best friend who is also still alive, and she is also not with me, you know, and it um it's a lot of that courage, it's strong courage, and it's moving forward and teaching how it's okay and it's okay to embrace it, and then that you find your love of your life and you marry him, and you take a leap of faith, you go for it. Yes, that's my future. I'm leaping faith all the way. 2026 is here, and I'm going to be in middle schools, I'm gonna be in high schools, I'm gonna be assembly speaking. Like that's that's my life in 2026. I'm so proud of you. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00:I'm gonna say the F word. Oh no way. No way. Sorry, Nana. Um sorry, Dana. I I've lost people too, girl. And I've lost, I had a friend that, you know, came out and said what I what I did worked when I worked with the devil. And it just made me look at myself like, trash, how dare you? How dare you do such things? And I, you know, it was someone that I trusted, someone that I loved, that I cared for, and was there for forever. Sorry, this thing is driving me insane. Um, was there for through anything, everything. And for them to leave, it's like the audacity. You are a part of my soul. And it's I you go back to, you know, this is a new season, and new it makes change and new people will come in. Yeah. And you just have to stay true to yourself and say, This is me. If you don't like it, move along.
SPEAKER_01:And I've been so thankful to have you in that way. Because, like you said, I do say to myself, well, if Trish can stand in her power and against this and up for herself, I can too. And that's the real deal. It's not like I invented this. No, I I get to watch other strong women who I believe in 100%. I believe in your talent, I believe in all of everything you do is for the the highest good in your highest good. And if you believe that about yourself and you also know that helps me, you know, like that is just part of the ripple effect.
SPEAKER_00:And shouting for you and saying, Rachel has got this, she is phenomenal, she is everything like women supporting women. We need more of that shit. We're not doing any of this, like super Sally did this, blah, blah, blah. No, we're not. We are we are grown ass women. We need to stop with the bullshit. And I think we are.
SPEAKER_01:Shrinking to fit in. No, we're not shrinking any no favors.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah. I'm saying if you don't believe it, okay, cool. Merry Christmas, happy holidays. Kiss his ass. Kiss your ass.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, now I want to watch that. I know.
SPEAKER_00:It's like my favorite movie. Uh hands down. It is I totally get the crash out now. You know, like when he loses his frigging mind because it's like the pressure. Both sets of parents are in the house. I could not imagine having my my dad and my stepmom and my in-laws in the house at one time. I would be smoking in the kitchen too. Yeah. Yeah. And you're crying in the attic. No one crying in the attic. Right? Like wearing wearing a turban and a little fruit in the attic. And I love that. And my grandma's clothes. Yes. That was me yesterday looking for um all of these pictures on the eve of my mom's birthday, like crying, looking at these pictures. And I'm like, good lord, these emotions are on the area. So if anyone out there is experiencing the emotional roller coaster, just know that you are not alone.
SPEAKER_01:Hey, also, if anyone out there is experiencing the emotional roller coaster, Celessa, my mom Gwen, and me, we're doing a presence over presence part two. Yes. December 13th from 10:30 to noon Eastern. And it's literally about how you don't adapt other people's people's energies and how you can go into all of it with your calm energy and you come out with your calm energy. And it's how to be rooted in your peace. So led right into that. You just fed me.
SPEAKER_00:Yes. We need more peace and we need to be more present. Yeah. We need to stop feeling like little kids going, I want, I want, I want this, I want this, I want this. Yeah.
unknown:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:Enough with the dingle dingle.
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:You know, dingle dingle dingle. I mean, it's okay to put snowballs on your sweater, don't get me wrong.
SPEAKER_00:You know, and wear Christmas lights below the camera.
SPEAKER_01:You don't know what's jingling.
SPEAKER_00:In shorts. No, in my shorts, because it's hot in this sweater. Oh. That's why my mom was always irritated around the holidays. These are itchy and they're hot.
SPEAKER_01:Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00:And they, you know, we're not doing that anymore.
SPEAKER_01:Yes. Well, thank you, Trish. Thanks for um breaking open my can. Like a little nutcracker.
SPEAKER_00:You're welcome. I'm happy to be your nutcracker.
SPEAKER_01:All the way. Um, but I love your superpower. And uh will always send people your way because it's such a gift, literally to humanity. It is such a gift. And I've I applaud technology and I applaud um AI, chat GPT, all the all the stuff. Because here's the thing: not all of us are born marketers. You're born with your own gifts. And if you can use an assistant like that to bring people who need your gift in, by all means, do it. Because it's not the assistant they're buying, it's your gift that they're buying.
SPEAKER_00:Like you can I can only be talented so much. Yeah, exactly. I need some, I need some, I need some assistance.
SPEAKER_01:Exactly. So good for you for figuring that out because websites are hard in general. And send all kinds of emails every week.
unknown:Yes.
SPEAKER_00:Oh my gosh, Carl.
SPEAKER_01:But I love reading your emails. Thank you. I've sent another one out in like 10 minutes. Okay, good. I'll I'll read it.
SPEAKER_00:Oh, I love you.
unknown:Thank you.
SPEAKER_00:I love you too. Merry Christmas, everyone. Happy holidays.
SPEAKER_01:Oh, I hope you loved that as much as I did, and loved where the Fits in Revolution and the Fits in Project and me, Rachel Fitzpatrick, where we're headed in 2026.
